The content creation trap that's stealing your evenings (and a simple system to save you hours every week)

abstract image of multiple social media platform and content channel logos

You wrote a great LinkedIn post this morning. It got traction.

Now you're considering Twitter/X, your newsletter, your blog and Instagram thinking "I should repurpose this..."

But you don't have another 2 hours.

So you don't - and your best idea only reaches 20% of your potential audience.

The problem

Here's what actually happens:

Option A:

You start from scratch on every platform.
Result: You're exhausted. You post once, maybe twice, then give up.

Option B:

You ignore most platforms entirely.
Result: You feel like you're competitors are everywhere, and you're not.

The Root Cause:

Each platform has different formats, character limits and audience expectations. Manually adapting content isn't just time-consuming - it's soul-crushing, repetitive work.

You know you should be more visible. But the thought of reformatting makes you procrastinate.

Meanwhile, your best insights die after one post.

What this actually costs you

That LinkedIn post took 40 minutes to write. With the right system, it could've reached 5× more people in 5 extra minutes.

But without a system, you're looking at:

  • 20 minutes to rewrite for X (different format, character limits)
  • 40 minutes to expand for your newsletter (more content, more editing)
  • 20 minutes to create a carousel outline
  • 20 minutes to create the carousel
  • 30 minutes to craft a blog post
  • etc.

Total: an extra 2 hours MINIMUM. For one idea.

It's exhausting.

The solution: Two systems (pick your speed)

The truth is that most people use AI like a vending machine. Insert prompt, get mediocre output, give up.

I'm going to show you two better ways - one fast, one thorough.

Both work. Choose which one you prefer based on how much the content matters.

System 1: The 5-minute version (when speed matters)

Use this when: You need it done fast, you're okay with 80% quality, you'll tweak manually.

The one-shot prompt

ROLE:
You are a content strategist helping me repurpose content across platforms while maintaining my unique voice.

MY VOICE & AUDIENCE:
- Writing style: [Add 2-3 adjectives: e.g., "Direct, conversational, no corporate BS"]; Use [Add language and variant (e.g. UK English)]
- Audience: [e.g., "Non-technical professionals, time-poor, allergic to hype"]
- Tone examples: [Paste 1-2 of your recent posts that sound like YOU]

NEVER USE THESE PHRASES:
"Unlock," "dive deep," "game-changer," "leverage," "in today's fast-paced landscape," "revolutionise," "

STRATEGIC GOALS BY PLATFORM:
- X/Twitter: Start conversations, get replies
- Instagram: Build relatability, show personality
- Newsletter: Provide depth and actionable steps
- LinkedIn Carousel: Visual summary for busy skimmers

ORIGINAL CONTENT:
[Paste your LinkedIn post/article here]

TASK:
Create 4 platform-adapted versions. For each:
1. Match my voice (see examples above)
2. Make it native to the platform (not a copy-paste)
3. Keep the core insight identical
4. Include a clear, specific action

OUTPUT:
1. X/Twitter Thread (5-7 tweets, first tweet hooks in <10 words. Give me 3 hook ideas)
2. Instagram Caption (conversational, 150-200 words, 3-5 hashtags)
3. Newsletter Snippet (2-3 paragraphs, more depth than social)
4. LinkedIn Carousel Outline (5-7 slide titles + one-sentence content per slide)

After you generate these, I'll work with you to refine each of them, one at a time.

The 30-Second quality check

Before you post, scan each output:

  • Does it sound like me? (If not, edit the first sentence)
  • Is the hook strong? (Would I stop scrolling for this?)
  • Platform-appropriate length? (X: tight, Instagram: conversational, Newsletter: depth)
  • No AI tells? (Remove "unlock," "dive deep," and em dashes (—) etc.)

Time breakdown

  • 30-40 min: Write original content
  • 2 min: Paste into prompt, run AI
  • 5-10 min: Quality check all outputs
  • 1 min: Schedule posts

Total: ~50 minutes (vs. ~ 3 hours manually)
Saved: 2 hours+

System 2: The 10-minute version (when quality matters)

Use this when: This content is important, you want 95% quality, you have 10 minutes.

The coached approach (bite-sized steps)

This works differently. Instead of dumping everything at once, the AI guides you through one small step at a time.

The setup prompt

You are an expert content strategist helping me repurpose content across platforms.

I need your help, but I want to work through this step-by-step—one question or task at a time. Don't overwhelm me with everything at once.

Here's what I need:
- Adapt my content for X, Instagram, Newsletter, and LinkedIn Carousel
- Maintain my unique voice
- Make each version native to its platform

Start by asking me ONE question about my writing voice or audience.

After I answer, ask the next question. Keep it bite-sized.

Ready? Ask your first question.

What happens next:

AI asks: "How would you describe your writing style in 3 words?"
You answer: "Direct, conversational, no-BS."

AI asks: "Can you paste one example of a post you're proud of?"
You paste: [Your example]

AI says: "Got it. Now paste the content you want to repurpose."
You paste: [Your LinkedIn post]

AI says: "Which platform should we start with? (Pick one: X, Instagram, Newsletter, or Carousel)"
You say: "X"

AI generates: [X thread]
AI asks: "How does this feel? Should I adjust the hook, tone, or CTA?"

You refine: "Hook is weak. Make it more specific about the pain."

AI iterates: [Improved version]
AI asks: "Better? If yes, which platform next?"

Why this works better

Visible progress at every step.
You never feel overwhelmed. You see it taking shape.

You stay in control.
You're not editing a wall of text. You're guiding one piece at a time.

Higher quality output.
The AI learns your voice as you go, getting better with each platform.

Time breakdown

  • 30 min: Write original content
  • 3 min: Setup conversation (voice calibration)
  • 2 min per platform × 4 = 8 min
  • Total: 41 minutes (vs. 110 minutes manually)
  • Saved: 69 minutes

The real win (beyond time savings)

Here's what actually changes:

Before: You'd skip 3-4 platforms because "I don't have time."
After: You actually do it. Every time.

That's the difference between reaching 100 people and reaching 500.

This isn't about gaming algorithms or going viral. It's about making your good work visible to more people without burning out.

The content still needs to be good. This just makes distribution sustainable.

Your 5-minute action this week

Pick one post you've already written that got good engagement.

If you want speed: Use System 1 (5-minute version)
If you want quality: Use System 2 (10-minute coached version)

Run it through the system. Post the outputs over the next 5 days.

Then reply and tell me:

  • Which system did you use?
  • Which platform have you been ignoring that you finally posted to?
  • What surprised you about the process?

Most importantly: Save the templates (and your results)

I've created copy-paste templates for both systems. But they're useless if you don't use them.

Save them into a doc that you can easily find again later.

Use them this week. Tweak the prompts as you go.

Pro tip: Ask the AI tool how you could improve the prompts based on your needs and context. You'll quickly turn it into something that perfectly fits your needs.
